Skyward Sword Characters

Link

Link is the name every protagonist in The Legend of Zelda series is known by. There are many incarnations of Link, each possessing the Spirit of the Hero, with some them being blood related as well. They are chosen by the Goddesses to protect the land from evil whenever deemed necessary. In the majority of Zelda games, their adventures take place within Hyrule, traveling through the land, collecting important items, and defeating a wide variety of enemies while trying to save both Princess Zelda and her kingdom from the clutches of Ganon, Vaati, or other villains.

The first Link was introduced as a young sword-wielding boy, but since The Adventure of Link, the identity, appearance, and role of each incarnation of Link has varied from game to game. Many of the Links are given titles to identify them, such as the Hero of Time in Ocarina of Time and the Hero of Winds in The Wind Waker.

Zelda

Princess Zelda is the eponymous name commonly given to the females born into the Royal Family of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda series. With the exception of two games, an incarnation of Zelda or one of her alter egos has always been one of the central characters in the series. Each incarnation of Zelda has been shown at various ages depending upon which title they appear in. They have appeared as a child, a teenager and as a young adult; for example, the Princess Zelda in Twilight Princess is around 20 years of age. Early on in the timeline of the series, the original Zelda, while born as a human, is the mortal incarnation of the Goddess Hylia. Carrying on this divine blood, her female descendants are often named after her and are always the crown princess of Hyrule throughout its history. Several princesses within the bloodline are also the possessor of the Triforce of Wisdom, imbued with the essence of the Goddess Nayru. The essence of Nayru affords each Zelda divine wisdom, allowing them to discern the wisest decisions, especially in situations concerning the welfare of Hyrule. It grants them a myriad of mystical abilities, including the ability to heal others, though there is a possibility that this could also be an effect of their bloodline passing down Hylia's own powers and, later, the Light Force. Characters.

  Fi

Fi  is a character featured in Skyward Sword who is the humanoid representation of the Goddess Sword. Fi is the spirit within the sword who guides Link during his adventure, serving as the young hero's companion in the game.

Ghirahim

Ghirahim  is one of two primary antagonists featured in Skyward Sword. He is a figure of authority in the land below Skyloft, and he thinks quite highly of himself, preferring to be called Lord Ghirahim. His main objective lies in continuously hunting for Zelda to use her spirit as a goddess for his plan to resurrect Demise, his master. Although at first Ghirahim thinks little of Link and his presence, the Demon Lord grows frustrated and erratic as he realizes the young hero is a strong inconvenience to his plans.

Impa

Impa is the family name of several female members of the Sheikah, a mysterious tribe that has served and protected the Royal Family of Hyrule for many generations. Every member of the Sheikah tribe so far has been associated with and taken on the role of taking care of an incarnation of Zelda, being a nanny and a bodyguard of sorts in some games. As well as this, every Impa has given extensive information and guidance to the various incarnations of Link they encounter in their time.

Groose

Groose is a student at the Knight Academy in Skyloft and a personal rival to Link. He, Cawlin, and Strich have a reputation for being bullies. He commands a black Loftwing. He has a crush on Zelda and is jealous of the closeness between her and Link.

Gaepora

Gaepora is a character featured in Skyward Sword. He is the father of Zelda, the headmaster of the Knight Academy, and the owner of Mia. He is knowledgeable of the history and legends of Skyloft, and proves to be of invaluable help to Link during his quest to save Zelda.

Demise

Demise is the main antagonist and final boss of Skyward Sword. Long ago, he and his horde of demons broke through a fissure in the earth and sought out the Triforce. However, he was defeated and sealed away by the goddess Hylia and after the events of Skyward Sword, finally by Link through use of the Master Sword, in both past and present. Demise carries a cocky, overbearing temperament, and will stop at nothing to prove his power to any who defy him, even to Link, a non-magical mortal. Fi describes Demise as "the source of all monsters", and states that he "has conquered time itself".
